Reiki is a Japanese word representing: Universal Life Energy
Universal Life Energy isthe energy which is all around us. Reiki, when activated and applied for purposes of healing, addresses body, mind and spirit.
It accelerates the body’s ability to heal physical aliments. It opens the mind and spirit to the causes of disease and pain, the necessity for taking responsibility for one’s life and the joys of balanced wellness. The Usui System of Reiki is a natural healing art which uses Reiki in these ways.
This system was born out of the experience and dedication ofDr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Christian educator who, in the 1800'sresponded to a challenge from his university students by undertaking an extensive study of the healing phenomena of history’s greatest spiritual leaders.
Through travel, study, research and meditation, he evolved a healing system based on ancient Buddhist teachings written in Sanskrit. He spent the rest of his life practicing and teaching this method of natural healing, which involved attundement to the energy and the laying on of hands.
My involvement with Reiki work started in Silver City, NM 1998. I had a wonderful teacher, Vicki Fuller Allen. A sensitive woman who took a few of us under her wing and helped me to finally, breakthrough into the ~healing arts~.
Reiki, is a soft kind of experience. The music is low, the table is heated and the intention is to lay on hands for a complete healing of the mind, body and soul. When experiencing Reiki you are right at that place between conscienceness and unconsciousness. A place of true healing. Energy exchanged. It's a time for you to go deep down into yourself. What you find there is very personal and unique. I encourage you to come in and let me help take you to a place of ease, it could just change your life.
When thinking of scheduling an appointment for Reiki, and if this is the kind of session for you or a loved one. I find the easiest way to describe it is:
Reiki is for Everyone! It is for the individual who is seeking a different healing approach. If you are pregnant, dealing with depression or a traumatic event. It is for anyone who would like an alternative to massage, immobility, anyone in need of an aura cleansing, Dysplasia or even Alzheimer, anyone who would like to experience going deep down to a place of reasoning, here you will uncover truth and once again feel revitalized physically and spiritually.
I look forward to working with you.

1. Yoga for.... StressRelief: Yoga reduces the physical effects of stress on the body. By encouraging relaxation, yoga helps to lower the levels of the stress hormone cortisol. Related benefits include lowering blood pressure and heart rate, improving digestion and boosting the immune system as well as easing symptoms of conditions such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, asthma and insomnia.
2. Yoga for.... Pain Relief: Yoga can ease pain. Studies have demonstrated that practicing yoga asanas (postures), meditation or a combination of the two, reduced pain for people with conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, auto-immune diseases and hypertension as well as arthritis, back and neck pain and other chronic conditions. Some practitioners report that even emotional pain can be eased through the practice of yoga.
3. Yoga for.... Better Breathing: Yoga teaches you to take slower, deeper breaths. This helps to improve lung function, trigger the body's relaxation response and increase the amount of oxygen available to the body.
4. Yoga for.... Flexibility: Yoga helps to improve flexibility and mobility, increasing range of movement and reducing aches and pains. Many people can't touch their toes during their first yoga class. Gradually they begin to use the correct muscles. Over time, the ligaments, tendons and muscles lengthen, increasing elasticity, making more poses possible. Yoga also helps to improve body alignment resulting in better posture and helping to relieve back, neck, joint and muscle problems.
5. Yoga for....Increased Strength: Yoga asanas (postures) use every muscle in the body, helping to increase strength literally from head to toe. And, while these postures strengthen the body, they also provide an additional benefit of helping to relieve muscular tension.
6. Yoga for.... Improved Circulation: Yoga helps to improve circulation and, as a result of various poses, more efficiently moves oxygenated blood to the body's cells.
7. Yoga for.... Cardiovascular Conditioning: Even gentle yoga practice can provide cardio-vascular benefits by lowering resting heart rate, increasing endurance and improving oxygen uptake during exercise.
8. Yoga for.... Focus On The Present: Yoga helps us to focus on the present, to become more aware and to help create mind body health. It opens the way to improved concentration, coordination, reaction time and memory.
10. Yoga for.... Inner Peace: The meditative aspects of yoga helps you reach a deeper, more spiritual and more satisfying place in your life. Many who begin to practice for other reasons have reported this to be a key reason that yoga has become an essential part of their daily lives.
I became aware of Yoga and started taking classes in 2003 at the gym I attended in Sf, CA. After my work outs I felt empty and sore. I was training for 3 marathons a year and working 3-8 hours offering massage everyday.
I remember looking into the faces of the Yogis and seeing peace, calm and energy. I wondered who are these people and what's up with those mats? I took a class and I felt extremely blessed to have found these amazing techniques!
Even after my first class I could see this was going to be my next journey. I continued taking classes locally and when I found myself spending some time in Ohio I checked on-line and found Bhumi's Wellness Center. I attended my Teacher Training Course there and gained my certification in 2007. I have been teaching ever since.
I believe everyone needs Yoga everyday! The techniques, positions and poses can all be done with some modification, props and strict alignment. That is were having an individualized session comes into play. And that is hopefully where we meet. Come in and let's see if you can find the same easy results and passion for Yoga that I did.
Nameste
Styles of Yoga
Hatha: One of the most popular types of yoga (if not THE most popular), hatha yoga is meant to achieve balance between the mind and body. It includes traditional yoga postures for all levels, and is often a general term used to describe a collection of yoga styles. (Many of the types of yoga below are derived from hatha yoga.)
Ashtanga: This involves a fast-paced, flowing sequence of postures that gradually increase in difficulty.
Power yoga: Similar to ashtanga, with a fast pace. Power yoga is for those looking for a vigorous workout and body toning.
Forrest: A more contemporary type of yoga that makes you work up a sweat. It involves deep breathing, core strengtheners and holding postures for a longer time period. It is meant to purify and strengthen the body, along with promote the release of negative emotions and pain.
Viniyoga: A gentle yoga practice in which breathing is synchronized with the poses.
Bikram: A series of 26 poses are performed in a heated room (the temperature can be anywhere from 90-100 degrees F) to make your body sweat. The heat in the room is meant to increase your body's flexibility, reduce the risk of injury and help you to detoxify.
Kundalini: Kundalini yoga is meant to awaken a powerful energy that is located at the base of the spine. The energy, once released, is said to bring a great sense of well-being and awareness.
Bharata: Bharata yoga helps to align the spine to increase mobility and improve posture.
Dru: A series of poses are performed to help you find your inner tranquility and strength, as well as improve your well-being.
Ananda: Includes a series of gentle hatha yoga poses designed to send energy toward the brain to prepare the body for meditation. This type of yoga is meant to promote spiritual growth and self-awareness.
Anusara: Meaning literally "to step into the current of divine will," anusara is meant to promote awareness and well-being along with body alignment.
Swara: Sequences focus on observing the breath and proper breathing practices.
Iyengar: This is a practice geared strongly toward bodily alignment. Poses are held for longer periods (as opposed to "flowing" from one into the other).
Jivamukti: A physically intense yoga series that also involves chanting, meditation, and spiritual teachings.
Integral: A gentle form of hatha yoga that emphasizes breathing, chanting, meditation and purifying the body's energy channels.
Statement:
There are many styles of Yoga and I can teach them all. But there is also a true philosophy to this healing practice that can not be taken lightly. There are definite do's and don'ts to the practice and I follow them religiously. It's not just knowing a style it's teaching it Right that counts!

When 13-year-old Tyler Chryssicas takes an important test, she doesn't panic.
If she doesn't know an answer, she simply takes a few seconds to breathe deeply and focus—a technique she learned from practicing yoga.
Tyler is a perfect example of why teenagers need yoga. On top of the already competitive atmosphere of school, she's an athlete who figure skates and plays lacrosse and tennis.
"I'm going everywhere and so busy, so I have to have some downtime and relax," she says.
Aside from the physical benefits, yoga teaches teens techniques for coping with the unique issues they're faced with everyday—insecurity about their changing bodies, the enormous pressure to fit in, stressful schedules, and uncertainty about their beliefs and their futures.
"Teens are just learning to think for themselves and figure out their stand on things." "They come from a totally fresh perspective, which makes them really inspiring to teach."
That fresh perspective also means that a teenager's relationship with his or her yoga teacher has the potential to grow. The teacher is a role model who could have a huge impact on a teen's development from adolescent into young adult and beyond.
Teens are very soulful and starting to get the big picture. They care about causes, self-expression and freedom. As a teachers we help connect them to their own inner questioner.
Developing a regular home yoga practice is an essential stepping-stone on the path toward embracing the gift of self-illumination through yoga.
When we practice alone, we're allowing ourselves the opportunity to embody what we've been taught. We empower ourselves with personal experience, which is essential to truly know something.
The independence students gain from practicing at home will strengthen their overall practice and seep out into all areas of their lives.
Acceptance (Santosha)
Accept yourself in the present and approach the future with optimism. Find contentment.
Cultivate gratitude for what you have.
Rather than feeling sorry for yourself, affect change where you can and let go of the rest.
Be aware of your own competitiveness. When appropriate, stop, so as to prevent harm.
Realize you can't change other people.
Accept successes, forgive failures.
Ambition and Zeal (Tapas)
Do your best.
Harness your energy to follow good habits.
Set goals.
Simply get started. It's half the battle.
Self Awareness (Svadhyaya)
Seek to see yourself with clarity.
Be reflective and learn from your mistakes.
Be aware of your breath.
Watch your reaction to things. Learn about yourself by what bothers you.
Write down your strengths and weaknesses. Ask others to verify.
Devotion to Greater Power (Ishvara Pranidhana)
Believe that there is meaning to the world.
Develop trust in your intuition.
Find what is sacred for you.
Know your values. Know what you value most.

What a specatular day! A beautiful Saturday in July.... 90' degrees, the sun was shining, we had the perfect spot, in the shade!
An amazing turn out in Morgantown West Virgina. Thousands of parents brought their children downtown to celebrate and enjoy a day all their own!
There were lots of water attractions and fun animals blown up to jump in, free cotton candy and snowcones, or "come make your own colored sand necklace!" Watch the juggler entertain the crowds, hear a story in Spanish, or break a board with the Ty Quan Do students....
And oh yeah my dears YOGA!

Many thanks to you for another absolutely wonderful experience. It's been months since I've felt this good, this calm and this relaxed.
As you left I told you that during those 2 and one-half hours, I even now and then found myself trying to find the words to tell you how wonderful your sessions are...but..I finally concluded...I was incapable of finding words to do your work justice. You are truly blessed with incredible skills and a gentleness that is difficult to describe. After our session I told you I would gladly offer a testimonial to your skills and as importantly...your gentle nature. Please feel free to use any part of this note...or all of it any way you wish. Above and beyond that...you are more than welcome to ask any of your potential clients to call me...I will gladly tell them how lucky we are that you have come to us.
Thanks again,
Larry
PS....Linda has called and she echoed my sentiments about how singularly "special" you are...and you will be hearing from her soon about some Yoga instruction.
Larry
Dear reader,
Recently I have found myself doing less and less physical activity. I realized that I was doing less because my muscles were stiff and I couldn't bend like I use to.
Angel has been a blessing in helping me learn to stretch and loosen my muscles through our yoga training sessions and my receiving Reiki therapy. She can be a tough instructor, but she is serious about getting me back in shape.
After just a few weeks I was able to stretch and balance while painting a gazebo roof like I could ten years ago.

My wife and I have traveled and had many healing sessions and bodywork in many countries. We recently moved to our new home and have had a number of experiences with local therapist. The sessions were mostly marginal and we often wondered which school taught them or perhaps they skipped a lot of classes. We were on the verge of giving up when we decided to give Angel a try. We started having weekly yoga and Reiki sessions with Angel. This is serious stuff. The combination of Yoga, Reiki and heat therapy is over the top. Highly recommend....Try at your own risk.........you might find an addiction at the hands of an angel. All puns aside, you would literally have to travel many thousands of miles to find anything comparable. The choice is really a "no brainer" for sure.
Oliver & Chris
Hello Angel,
Truly amazing, after spending less than a week in your Yoga classes we have concluded you have a knowing that takes the average Yogi years and years to master. This is the new healing artist Angel on the block...........Get in line folks. Serious healing doesn't get better than this but it will if her name is Angel. We look forward to your continuing mastery of the healing arts. We see the difference! We feel the difference! We like the difference!
Namaste,
Oliver & Chris
I just wanted to complement you again........that was off the charts spectacular.
I usually talk a little, get to know the therapist. But you had me speechless, due both to breathing exercises and your awesome talent. And it had nothing to do with the extra time, it was "all that" within 10 minutes!"
"I have had tried many forms of therapy, but nothing comes close to your combinations and various modalities, delivered BOTH professionally and effectively.........again, wow!
Doug
After several years of receiving therapy not only for relaxation, but for pain relief after a horrible car accident. Angel is an incredible therapist, professional and provided a holistic body experience. I fully endorse her practice and her talent. Thank you Angel..

Comment:
-------- Undoubtedly, one of, if not the best therapy sessions I have had by a very gifted and extremely knowledgeable expert in her field. Angel told me that she would know my body better than me after one session and she did! I would recommend her to anyone who desires not only to feel better, but to live better.
Mike
Angel,
I want to thank you for the wonderful three hour session I had with you last week. It was the best experience I ever had, and I loved your techniques, aromatherapy, and ambiance. Your choice of music added to my senses. I definitely will be seeing you again soon.
Tom Van Tassel
Angel,
Thank you for your time today. You are truly gifted and provided me with excellent feedback on what I need to do to improve my health. I will hopefully see you on my travels, but until then enjoy the journey and take care of yourself...it was a pleasure to meet and work with you. I will drop an email every now and then to let you know what is going on. Thank you..
Cheers, Keith
Hey Angel! It is so good to hear from you! Power Yoga... awesome! I've never done it but will have to check it out. Things are great with me! I have practiced everyday since my lesson. My body and mind feel stronger then ever. It's like I've made a step in a new direction of my life and I will never be the same. How exciting, huh?!! I'm preaching the benefits of yoga wherever I go.... sound familiar? ;)
So as the subject line states, yoga helps my running too. I ran in a 5K yesterday with a time of 21:16. My goal was sub 20 minutes, but it was cold and a hilly course. I know with my disciplined practice I'll be busting through the 20 minute barrier in no time!
My new mat arrived Friday, but it was the wrong one... bummer. I have to return it, but I am now the proud owner of a yoga block. It's about technique not touching the ground, right teach? :)
